Proposta de sistema para auxiliar no diagnóstico da doença de Parkinson

The effect of neuromotor and neurodegenerative diseases on motor skills - related to the motor coordination of the individual - have been studied as a form of diagnosis and prognosis of these diseases. According to the World Health Organization, neurodegenerative diseases are, apart from cancer, the diseases that kill most people worldwide and are currently diagnosed by subjective empirical analysis based on the experience of the health professional or through invasive examinations. Thus, this research aims to study, develop and apply an end-to-end system that helps in the diagnosis and prognosis of neurodegenerative diseases - especially Parkinson's disease (PD) - from the analysis of the level of tremor of the peripheral extremities of the upper limbs of the individual, using wearable electronic devices and computational processing. Low-cost embedded electronic devices were used to build a precise wearable prototype for collecting inertial data (motion data) and It was developed a computational system capable of receiving, temporarily storing, and sending the data collected for analysis by expert systems that, using data visualization techniques, assist the health professional in the diagnosis and monitoring of PD evolution. Therefore, compared to devices already developed, the present system has in its differential the concern with the whole process of collection, analysis, and examination result, delivering a complete system, to assist professionals in the diagnosis and prognosis of neurodegenerative diseases at a lower cost than devices currently use
