ЗАПРОВАДЖЕННЯ ПРИВАТ-ДОЦЕНТУРИ У ВІТЧИЗНЯНИХ УНІВЕРСИТЕТАХ: ІСТОРИКО-ПЕДАГОГІЧНИЙ АСПЕКТ

Study of the experience of pre-revolutionary universities of Ukraine concerning the introduction of the Institute of privat-associate professorship will have a significant contribution to the further modernization of higher education. During the scientific research the author applied a method of archive materials research and the theoretical methods of the pedagogical research (historiographical analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, comparison). The aim of the article is to review historical and historical-pedagogical sources to conduct a scientific research of the process of introducing privat-associate professorship at domestic universities in prerevolutionary period. An array of historical and historical-pedagogical sources that allowed to recreate the process of introducing the Institute of privat-associate professorship in Novorossiysk and Kharkiv universities as well as at St. Vladimir University and illuminate the objective and subjective reasons that prevented the significant growth of a number of privat-associate professors is analyzed in the article. It is stated that the leadership of the Ministry for the national education and trustees of the education districts blocked faculties and councils’ decisions that might impede this process. A valuable material that enables to find out the scientific and pedagogical level of privat-associate professors, the reasons of admission to the position that were not always prudent and objective can be found in archival affairs covering the processes of the departments vacancies. Not only the reflections on purely business and professional quality of teachers, but also about the moral-ethical qualities and about the level of political security clearance can be found in responses of trustees, deans and rectors concerning the representatives of the Corps staff. A part of affairs highlights the issues of privat-associate professors’ remuneration who conducted optional training courses for the students and that (the issues) were not always resolved in their favor. It is very important to analyze the privat-associate professors list for faculties with the indication of the subjects they taught to assess their contribution of in the educational process of the universities. The attention is paid to the fact that the Institute of privat-associate professorship provided considerable information and scientific impulse to the educational process and thereby made it impossible to have stagnant phenomena in the professors’ environment. To conclude, in spite of the different obstacles that were created on the way of the privat-associate professorship introduction, skepticism about the innovations and, conversely, exaggerated hopes about it as a way of overcoming the problem of the shortage of teaching staff, the Institute gradually acquitted itself, primarily due to the fact that it gradually became the main source of the replenishment of the professor
