Post-Graduate Department of Chemistry, G. M. College, Sambalpur Manuscript received 16 August 1975; revised 8 October 1975; accepted 6 December 1975 The solubility of Lead Hydroxylapatite and its solid solutions with arsenate in the physiologically important \(p\)H range of 5.0 to 8.0 decreases with increase in the \(p\)H of the medium of dissolution. This is due to the dissolved phosphate ions function as proton acceptors and being salts of weak acid form undergoes hydrolysis in aqueous media and at a given \(p\)H it is found to increase steadily with in crease in the arsenate content of the sample
