According to the official data, there are about 2000 new cases of rape registered every year in Kazakhstan. However, according to the information provided by various crisis centers,the number of sexual crimes, may be 10 times higher than the digit shown by the official statistics. Women that were subjected to sexual abuse, prefere to hide the existence of the crime, being afraid of being harassed and assaulted by the offender or by his family. The tradition inhereted from the ancient assian culture, supposes that a woman should be obedient and submissive towards her husband
