ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ МИТРОПОЛИТІВ КИЇВСЬКИХ І ГАЛИЦЬКИХ З РОЗБУДОВИ МОНАСТИРСЬКИХ БІБЛІОТЕК КИЄВА У ХІХ – НА ПОЧАТКУ ХХ СТ

In the article discusses the contribution of Kyiv and Galician Metropolitans to the development of monastic libra-ries in Kyiv in nineteenth –early twentieth century. Special attention is given to activities of Rev. Irenaeus (I. Falkivs-koho) Filaret (F.G. Amfiteatrov), Plato (M.I. Gorodetsky) Flavian (M.M Gorodetsky). Metropolitans actively funded and developed libraries, filled them with liturgical, prayer, patristic editions of their collections through print and pro-curement. One of the founders of library of the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery was Metropolitan Irenaeus. He has made significant efforts to the organization and its activities. I. Falkivsky paid great attention to formation and streamlining its funds. A special contribution of Metropolitan was cataloging assets of library. Rev. Filaret continued the tradition of saving and filling monastic libraries. According to Metropolitan Platon monastic libraries were at-tached to educational activities and combating with Old Believers and sectarians. Metropolitan Flavian financed the building of new Lavra library
