Introduction: Anemia is a key public health problem distressing all ages of the population with its highest prevalence among pregnant women. Globally 20 percent of the maternal deaths are caused by anemia. The etiology of anemia during pregnancy in developing countries is multi factorial and varies by geographic region includes dietary deficiencies of iron, folate, vitamin B12 and parasitic infestation like malaria and hookworms, which co-relate to various factors like illiteracy, poverty, lack of awareness, cultural and religious taboos, poor dietary habits.
