Intense Respiratory Infections contain very huge and heterogeneous set of diseases counting bacteria, viruses and different etiologies. Recently, procalcitonin, the blood marker for bacterial diseases, has developed as the auspicious device to advance antimicrobial treatment choices (PCT-guided antimicrobial treatment). A few preliminary randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that procalcitonin can be used to start and stop antitoxins in a variety of ARF patient populations and in settings ranging from critical care settings to crisis divisions, clinic wards and concentrated care units.
