Socio-Economic Determinants of the Market for the Poor (M4p) Systemic Approach on Rice Parboilers in the Tapoa Province in Burkina Faso

M4P is a process-based approach to development that provides agencies and governments with the framework to implement lasting change. The aim of this research is to determine the effects of the probability of adherence to the Market for the Poor (M4P) systemic approach on the socio-economic performance of rice parboilers in the province of Tapoa in Burkina Faso. To achieve this, the methodological approach uses survey data from 160 rice parboilers and Logit-type modeling. The results show that the perceptions of the actors on the innovations introduced by the M4P approach are positive and its adoption also has a positive impact on income; the age of the respondent, the daily wage, the production capacity, the quantity of hired labor positively and significantly affect the income of rice parboiling households in Tapoa. The State of Burkina Faso and the provincial authorities would benefit from working to strengthen the productive capacities of rice parboilers, through the popularization of the systemic approach (M4P) and the promotion of local rice in order to considerably improve the living conditions of all actors in the rice sector in Burkina Faso
