Condensation of Glutaryl Chloride, Pimelyl Chloride, Suberyl Chloride, Azeloyl Chloride and Sebasoyl Chloride with Aromatic Hydrocarbons

[Glutaryl chloride, Pimelyl chloride, Suberyl chloride, Azeloyl chloride and Sebasoyl chloride have been condensed with toluene, o-chloro toluene, o-xylene, m-xylene, chlorobenzene and bromobenzene in the presence of anhydrous aluminium chloride yielding 1 : 7, 1 : 8, 1 : 9 and 1 : 10 diketones together with small amount of \(\omega\)-keto acids in some cases.
