Department of Physical Chemistry, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Jadavpur, Calcutta-700 082 The lifetime of the pyrene-N,N-dimethylaniline exciplex luminescence with a fixed concentration of donor and acceptor has been varied by adding quenchers and changing solvents. Its effect on the magnetic field modulation of the exciplex luminescence has been studied. The results are discussed in the light of electron hopping theory and possible environmental perturbation on the ISC process occuring on the bi-radical pair
