The electricity market in Zambia is dominated by the vertically integrated State-Owned Utility (SOU) ZESCO Limited (“ZESCO”) that generates electricity using hydropower technology. Due to variations adverse seasonality variations attributed to climate change, generation of hydropower has been impacted negatively due to reduced water levels in the reservoirs. Accordingly, the SOU intends to diverse its power generation mix to include utility scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants
