Introdução ao Debate Realismo versus Antirrealismo

This article intends to introduce and present to readers and interested parties the Realism/Antirrealism debate. Those who were attracted by the content of the dispute, and still do not have enough knowledge to extract everything that the denser works of classic and consecrated authors have to offer, will certainly find here a good environment for the nomenclatures, the content and the spirit that permeates realists and anti-realists in their arguments. This article was based on knowledge produced by classic authors on both sides of the debate, such as Ernan McMullin, Anjan Chakravartty, Thomas Kuhn, George Berkeley, Karl Popper, Yuri Balashov, Paul Thagard, among others. The article was divided into three parts. The introductory chapter is a presentation of each side, with the aim of defining the meaning of each philosophical position so that the reader can minimally understand the difference. The second part exposes the basis of the main authors who try to justify the foundations of their philosophical option, and how such a position was developed throughout history. The last chapter presents the main contemporary developments of the debate; the way each side evolved in its arguments after centuries of philosophical confrontation. It also addresses current philosophical contributions to the debate in question
