The paper is devoted to the principles of freedom and humanism in the creativity of Albert Camus (1913–1960), a French writer, a laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. His works revealed a unique individuality. During World War II and the fascist occupation of France, he joined the ranks of the Resistance Movement and became a member of the underground French organization in Paris. The theme of freedom and the trend of humanism are inherent in his works. A contrasting juxtaposition, a sharp transition from private, but impressive, details to a generalization, from ruthless irony to tenderness, from an angry accusation to an appeal is distinguished in the writer's style.
