Secondary data collected from print and online publication was employed to discuss the problems facing mathematics teachers in the Nigerian Basic schools. The paper argued that mathematics is a very important subject in the Basic schools that needs proper administrations and curriculum implementations in order to realize its objectives. The paper concluded that teaching of large classes, inadequate mathematics laboratory, shortage of instructional materials, poor motivation, ineffective capacity building programme, poor supervision and negative attitude of students towards learning of mathematics are some of the major problems mathematics teachers are facing in the realization of Nigerian Basic schools mathematics goals.
