The role of Educational and Scientific Center «Botanical Garden of SSPU named after A. S. Makarenko» in ecological of pupils' youth

The article deals with the issues of actualization of forms and methods of ecological education of students. The main attention is focused on the analysis of the possibilities of using the information, organizational and scientific potential of the educational and scientific center "Botanical Garden of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. Makarenko" to ensure the applied direction of environmental education. The educational, cognitive and environmental activities of the staff of the NSC «Botanical Garden of the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko» and teachers of the natural-geographical faculty of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko during a visit to the Botanical Garden by student youth, highlighted the possible options for competent-oriented learning in the course of independent research on the territory of nature reserves. Environmental education at the NSC «Botanical Garden of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko» is carried out during scheduled excursions; classroom studies and field practices of students of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko; festival «Lilac Blues». The routes of the ecological trail and the educational quest make it possible to conduct ecological excursions at different times of the year. During excursions, visitors get acquainted with the diversity of the flora, life forms of plants, their adaptations to existence in various ecological environments. Special attention is paid to the issues of protection and preservation of certain species of plants and plant communities that have undergone significant anthropogenic impact and require special protection
