Data Conversations: RDM best practices

This edition of the Data Conversations was focused on best practices in making research data FAIR. We talked about methodological diversity and looked at examples from medical science as well as social sciences, both quantitative and qualitative data, data that cannot be openly shared. Stephan van der Zwaard: Finding your way in FAIR data Koen Leveld: FAIR enough About the speakers Stephan van der Zwaard Stephan van der Zwaard has a background in Human Movement Sciences and Data Science. He works as an assistant professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and uses the complementary fields of physiology and data science to investigate how people can train to improve their exercise tolerance. Also, Stephan is the contact person for research data management at the Department of Human Movement Sciences, providing advice on data management and FAIR data. Koen Leveld Koen Leuveld is the Data Steward for the Faculty of Social Sciences. He advises researchers from the various disciplines within the social sciences on how to make their data FAIR, and how to comply various with legal and ethical standards. Koen has a background in Development Economics, for which he investigated the links between economic behaviour, institutions and development. Data Conversations started at the University of Lancaster in the UK. The Lancaster Data Conversations aim to bring data practitioners together to talk about how researchers create, collect, use and share data. The Data Conversations at the VU Amsterdam share the same aim and are intended to provide a forum for researchers from different subjects and disciplines to exchange practices and ideas around open data, FAIR data, research data management and related open science topics
