The article deals with features of the study of the life and work of Honore de Balzac in the context of interethnic relations. The influence of Ukrainian culture and tradition on the work of the French writer can be traced. The vision of Ukraine by the European writer is analyzed. The modern style of life requires creative approach to the literature lesson and the whole process of learning . Comparative method gives the opportunity to form vital competencies, to expand the educational, upbringing and worldview opportunities of students in secondary and high schools.
