Introduction The Indian banking sector has witnessed a sea change over the years. There is a tremendous change in the banking operations during the pre and post nationalization era. several committees were appointed to examine the productivity of the banking operations and to suggest the measures for improving the bank performance. Among them, the era of globalization has witnessed significant changes in the various functional areas of the banks and some of the policy measures adopted by the banking industry has changed the contours of the structures of the banks and improved the bottom lines of the banks.
