Manuscript received 11 September 1975; accepted 27 April 1976 Mepazine hydrochloride forms a pink coloured complex instantaneously with palladium(II) at a pH value of 0 5-4.0. The complex exhibits absorption maximum at 510 -520 nm. The molar absorptivity is 4.46 x 103 1 mol-1 cm-1 and the sensitivity of the reaction is 0.023 μg cm2. The results of Job's method of continuous variation and molar ratio method indicate 1:1 composition for the complex which obeys Beer's law upto 12.0 ppm of palladium
