Diagnosis, habitat and distribution In spite of the effort made by Condé (1956a) to maintain the genus Eutrichocampa, the eleven species of Eutrichocampa described show a staggering variability in different characters, which led Paclt (1957) to propose five subgenera and a genus for them. Species of Eutrichocampa (in a wide sense) have been found on four continents: South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. The laminar or subcylindrical telotarsal process with abundant barbs is the only, presumably synapomorphic, feature to gather all these soil dwelling species.
