Arpactophilus orowe is the only New Caledonian species in the genus with the combination of a sternum II with a bulge (Fig. 84, and as is Fig. 2), a dark reddish-brown mandible with some yellow anteriorly, mostly black femora, a flat midventral line without an elevated ridge, a gena with dense punctation and associated setae, a black pronotal lobe, a metatibia with a well-delimited dark brown area (Figs. 8–9), and a roughly punctured frons without a distinct carina parallel to the inner compound eye margin (Fig. 83).
