417. Mesoiulus gridellii Strasser, 1934 Mesoiulus franzi Attems, 1944. Distribution AT, IT-ITA (Venezia). Habitat Found in garden litter beach debris in Venice (Strasser 1934). Thaler & Christian (2003) reported the species from the catacombs below St. Stephen’s cathedral in central Vienna. Also found in a palm house in Frankfurt, Germany; this record is not shown on the map. Remarks When Attems (1944) described Mesoiulus franzi he drew attention to its similarity with M. gridellii and remarked on its northerly situation with respect to all the other pachyiulines which are found in the Mediterranean zone.
