5. Eugenia candolleana De Candolle (1828: 281) [Fig. 2F; Fig 5C] Govaerts et al. (2010) and Sobral et al. (2010) indicate this species as endemic to Brazil and widely distributed. Trees and shrubs 2–4 m tall, leaves 4–8 × 2.0– 3.5 cm, midvein sulcate on adaxial lamina surface, racemose inflorescence, bracts and bracteoles lanceolate, hypanthium and style base pilose and fruits subglobose.
