Kinetics of Ce(IV) Oxidation of Diethyl Ketone in Sulphuric Acid Solutions

Department of Chemistry, University of Allahabad, Allahabad, India Manuscript received 2 January 1976, revised 11 July 1976, accepted 23 August 1977 The kinetic data on Ce(IV) oxidation of diethyl ketone in sulphuric acid solutions at four temperatures show first order dependence of the reaction on both Ce(IV) and diethyl ketone. The reaction rate decreases on increasing the ionic strength of the medium while it increases on increasing the concentration of hydrogen ions. The reaction rate is unaffected by the change in concentration of both sulphate and bisulphate ions
