Zosterops whiteheadi vulcani Hartert Zosterops whiteheadi vulcani Hartert, 1903c: 14 (Mt. Apo, Mindanao, 8000 feet). Now Zosterops montanus vulcani Hartert, 1903. HOLOTYPE: AMNH 700141, adult male (not female), collected on Mount Apo, 8000 feet, 06.59N, 125.16E (Dickinson et al., 1991: 415), Mindanao Island, Philippines, in April, 1903, by Walter Goodfellow. COMMENTS: When he described vulcani, Hartert had a single specimen, labeled as a male, collected by Goodfellow; in the original description the type was listed as a female, but this was corrected without comment by Hartert (1920: 436). Mees (1957: 184) listed this type specimen but considered vulcani a synonym of Z. m. montanus. Specimens collected on Mount Apo by J.
