The completion of the research project on the Potamia-Agios Sozomenos area, launched in 2000 by the École française d'Athènes in collaboration with the Laboratoire d'Archéologie Médiévale Méditerranéenne (UMR 6572-CNRS) and, for three successive years, the University of Cyprus, prompted the organization of this conference. This article deals mainly with the preliminary results of the archaeological enquiry, based on an intensive survey and several soundings. The initial aim was to collect the rich informations concerning the Medieval and Modern periods, but the survey led to the discovery of many Hellenistic and Roman artefacts.
