Situating the Debate: Ethnic Identity in Egypt in Persian, Ptolemaic and Roman Times Because of the variety of documentation it provides and the diversity of the populations it has hosted during the Persian, Ptolemaic and Roman periods, Egypt might well be assumed to be a particularly favourable environment in which to study ethnic identities.
