There are numerous questions on gender and theology that have to be addressed in the African context. This article focuses on the dominance of women in the Zimbabwean gospel music industry. It opens with a brief history of the place of women in traditional music in Zimbabwe, then discusses gospel music and the dominance of women in this type of music. The possible factors that cause the dominance of women in the gospel music industry are then considered. The article ends with a section on the theological implications of such dominance of women, focusing on the issue of women ordination.
