Interest in technology's promise as a means of enhancing instruction is certainly not new. Decades before educators proclaimed that computers, laser discs, and information systems were essential educational tools, generations of school officials, government planners, and teachers sought answers to the instructional problems of their day by adapting radio for educational purposes.
