According to A. Allegra, the goal of transhumanism is to achieve a condition of immortality and happiness. This contribution focuses on this theme. 
 First it reconstructs the features of transhuman earthly paradise: immortality and happiness, often considered coinciding with pleasure’s maximization, and not infrequently demanding the removal of the body or the exercise of autoerotic sex. At the bottom of transhumanism emerges a gnostic soteriological tension. 
 Then it considers some problems of transhumanism, linked to the catastrophic threat of technology, to the identification between pleasure and happiness, about which the paper discusses the role of love and of 'shock emotions'.
