In 1940, the inhabitants of the Nord saw the dramas of the Occupation which they had known between 1914 and 1918 re-emerge. This accounts for their massive exodus. This paper aims at reconstructing the traumas of the first world conflict and at seeing how, between 1918 and 1939, the memory of the «Grande Guerre» prolonged them. How is it possible to live again such a drama twenty years later, how is it possible to resist ? Among the first resistants of 1940, the memories of the «Grande Guerre» offer the first choices and the first methods : anglophilia, intelligence gathering, escape networks, undercover press.En 1940, les habitants du Nord voyaient resurgir les drames de l'Occupation qu'ils avaient connus entre 1914 et 1918. L'exode massif s'explique ainsi. Cet article essaie de reconstruire les traumatismes du premier conflit mondial et de voir comment, entre 1918 et 1939, la mémoire de la Grande Guerre a pu en être le prolongement. Comment est-il possible de revivre un tel drame à vingt ans d'intervalle, comment est-il possible de résister ?
