La présence germanique en Gaule du Nord au Bas-Empire.

Germanic Presence in Northern Gaul in the Lower Empire. The Lete colonies installed in Northern Gaul as early as the end of the mrd century have not left any archaeological traces. On the other hand, numerous discoveries, often ancient and ill published, acquaint us with small Germanic communities established in the second half of the IVth century. Characteristic artefacts (fibulas, non- turned potteries), petrographic surveys and anthropological studies lead us to search for the origin of some of these groups in Lower-Saxony (Vron) or in Westphalia (Arras, Seclin). The Germanic peopling of Northern Gaul is part of the transition between the late Roman civilization and the Merlovingian one, but it remains too much of a minor phenomenon to alter the physical type of the local population.Les colonies de lètes installées en Gaule du Nord dès la fin du IIIe siècle n'ont pas laissé de traces archéologiques. Par contre, de nombreuses découvertes, souvent anciennes et mal publiées, nous font connaître les petites communautés germaniques établies dans la seconde moitié du IVe siècle. Des objets caractéristiques (fibules, céramique non tournée), des analyses pétrographiques et des études anthropologiques, amènent à rechercher l'origine de certains de ces groupes en Basse-Saxe (Vron) ou en Westphalie (Arras, Seclin). Le peuplement germanique du nord de la Gaule participe à la transition entre les civilisations romaine tardive et mérovingienne, mais il reste trop minoritaire pour modifier le type physique de la population locale.De Germaanse aanwezigheid in Noord-Gallië in het late keizerrijk. Daar staat tegenover dat men uit vele, vaak oudere en slecht gepubliceerde, ontdekkingen een beeld krijgt van de kleine Germaanse vestigingen uit de tweede helft van de ivde eeuw. Steeds voorkomende voorwerpen (fibulae, niet gedraaide keramiek), petrografisch onderzoek en de antropologische studie situeren de oorsprong van bepaalde groepen in Nedersaksen (Vron) of Westfalen (Arras, Seclin). De Germaanse bevolking in Noord-Gallië maakt deel uit van de overgang tussen de laatromeinse en merovingische beschaving.
