Wiittgensteins's contributions to a Philosophical reflection on technology

This article examines Wittgenstein’s cultural pessimism on the progress of Western techno-scientific civilization in the first half of the twentieth century, as well as the contributions of the Austrian thinker for a philosophical reflection on technology. We will also show that Wittgenstein’s philosophical position was based on a deep and intense activity of thought and language. The text is divided on in three parts: the first shows Wittgenstein’s cultural pessimism on the technological civilization progress; the second shows Wittgenstein's relationship with science and his strong opposition to the scientist ideology; the third presents Wittgenstein’s conception of philosophy therapy including for the uses of technological civilization. Finally, we conclude by showing that Wittgenstein's philosophy avoids the use of the "ladder" dealing with problems in the contemporary world. http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1677-2954.2016v15n2p231Este artigo discute o pessimismo cultural de Wittgenstein diante do progresso da civilização tenocientífica ocidental na primeira metade do século XX, bem como as contribuições do pensador austríaco para uma reflexão filosófica sobre a tecnologia. Mostraremos também que a posição filosófica de Wittgenstein foi de profunda e intensa atividade do pensamento e da linguagem. O texto divide-se em três partes: a primeira apresenta o pessimismo cultural de Wittgenstein diante do progresso da civilização tecnológica; a segunda mostra a relação de Wittgenstein com ciência e sua forte oposição à ideologia cientificista; a terceira apresenta a filosofia do segundo Wittgenstein como terapia para problemas da crise da civilização tecnológica. Por fim, concluímos mostrando que a filosofia de Wittgenstein dispensa o uso de “escada” no enfretamento dos problemas no mundo contemporâneo
