In this paper, the author reflects upon the evolution of the status of the model used in teacher training. An initial clarification of the concepts allows us to distinguish between the two types of models used : the first one is based on reproduction (of an “ empirical” model) and the second one is based on formalization (of a “ theoretical” model). These two models correspond to two types of truths, omoiosis and aletheia. The author advocates the idea that teacher training is situated at the junction of these two models. He analyses the evolution of the status of the model in teacher training and shows that these two conceptions can be found in the very act of modeling teaching phenomena.
