Les conditions politiques de la professionnalité enseignante et leurs conséquences sociales

The professionalisation of teachers is more dependent on political conditions than is generally thought, as is shown by a comparison between France and Spain, two nations administered in very different ways. The setting up of teacher training institutes necessarily involves the combination of three logics in the definition of professionality : the logics of the administration, the university and the individual. The case of Spain, shows that without the support of "public power" this combination is difficult. The methods of assessment of Hie former "professional test" will then be considered and the same logics of definition of professionalitv will be found there. However, the very strong contradictions which have presided over its creation lead the professional test to give greater importance to the logic of individualization.La professionnalisation des enseignants dépend plus des conditions politiques qu'on ne l'estime généralement. Une comparaison entre la France et l'Espagne, deux nations administrées très différemment, permet d'en rendre compte. La constitution des instituts de formation des enseignants oblige à combiner trois logiques de définition de la professionnalité : administrative, universitaire et individualisante. Le cas de l'Espagne montre que sans l'aide de la « puissance publique », cette combinaison est difficile. On envisagera ensuite le dispositif de l'ancienne « épreuve professionnelle » où l'on retrouvera les mêmes logiques de définition de la professionnalité. Mais les contradictions très fortes qui ont présidé à sa création conduisent l'épreuve professionnelle à privilégier la logique individualisante.Losego Philippe.
