Recently, economics, both as a science and as a profession, has fallen under scrutiny by authors from various fields. A universal theme in this literature is the idea that economics has lost its way and must be reformed. Each of the books addressed in this review studies perceived problems with economics: problems in economic theory, economic policy, and in the economics profession itself. This paper discusses the merits and possible failings of this literature.
