The inspection of grammar, the inspectorate's grammar. Jacques Treignier, IEN Dreux, INRP PROG. Based on the observation that the inspectorate's report, one of the discourse which can have an influence on school teaching practices in grammar, has little been studied, the paper puts forward two questions. What role does this hierarchical discourse play in the development of didactic practices in grammar : does it hinder it, mirror it, justify it, give it impetus ? What developments have been taking place in the teaching of grammar at school over the last ten years and what are the specifics of these developments ?
