Utilización de las tecnologías, tecnoestrés, y su influencia en el rendimiento académico en estudiantes universitarios

The objective of the present study was to evaluate academic stress and their relationships with and academic performance in university students. The participants were 451 students from two universities from Alicante. their ages ranged from 18 to 30 years (20.52, SD = 4.80). Of these, 57.2% were women and 42.8% were men. The questionnaire RED_General or Questionnaire of Resources, Emotions / Experiences and Demands in users of ICT (2011), were applied. The results indicated moderately high levels of technostress among the students, with higher technostress being observed in the study sample when compared to the normative population. These levels were higher among the female gender, younger, of initial courses and of degrees not related to the use of ICTs. Likewise, it was found that technostress had a negative influence on academic performance. These data suggested the need to delve into this problem in order to reduce its negative effects among university students.El objetivo de este estudio consiste en analizar posibles relaciones entre la utilización de las TICs para su uso académico, el tecnoestrés y el rendimiento académico de una muestra de estudiantes universitarios. El Cuestionario de Recursos, Emociones/Experiencias y Demandas en usuarios de TIC (2011), fue administrado a 451 estudiantes universitarios con edades comprendidas entre 18 y 30 años (M = 20.52; DT = 4.80) de dos universidades de Alicante. De ellos, el 57.2%, eran mujeres y el 42.8%, varones. Los resultados indicaron niveles moderadamente elevados de tecnoestrés entre los estudiantes, observándose mayor tecnoestrés en la muestra de estudio al compararla con la población normativa. Estos niveles fueron más altos entre el género femenino, de menor edad, de cursos iniciales y de titulaciones no vinculadas a la utilización de las TICs. Asimismo, se encontró que el tecnoestrés influyo de manera negativa en el rendimiento académico. Estos datos sugieren en la necesidad de profundizar en este problema con objeto de reducir sus efectos negativos entre los estudiantes universitarios. &nbsp
