Purpose: To assess the prevalence and predictors of mental health disorders (MDHs) among head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) survivors, and the association with health-related quality of life (HRQOL), pain, and survival outcomes. Materials and methods: This was a retrospective, cross-sectional study of HNSCC survivors surveyed at an outpatient oncology clinic from May 2012 through July 2016. Results: Among 198 HNSCC survivors, 21% reported a MHD. Female sex (OR 6.60, 95% CI 2.08 to 20.98; p = 0.001) and Medicare insurance status (OR 4.95, 95% CI 1.52 to 16.11; p = 0.008) were significant predictors of reporting a MHD in the fully adjusted model.
