The concept of history as an impartial chronicle uninterpreted events, which developed out of 18th century rationalism, almost solely dominated the historical presuppositions of Western scholars between the late 18th and early 20th centuries. This concept of history was foundational to Biblical scholarship and crucial to the paths which Biblical scholars forged during this period. Because the Acts of the Apostles holds a unique place among the earliest Christian writings as the first history of the church, the impact of this concept of history on Acts scholarship was especially significant. ..
