From the 1760s onwards, Russian royal institutions (commissions, the Aca¬ demy of Science, various counsellors of Catherine II) started to think out a means to educate Russia. At the same time, instruction or study programmes were much in demand by the aristocrats for their children. The article deals with educational models which dominated in such a programme at the beginning of the 1780s, as applied to three young boys of the Golitsyne family who were sent overseas.Berelowitch Wladimir.
