Among so many articles on grammar' which he wrote for the Encyclopédie, in 1757, Diderot published a short article on FRAICHEUR (coolness) which is an authentic prose poem. If one looks at Diderot's subsequent works, novels, art criticism, correspondence, essays, one comes across so many harmonics of FRAICHEUR that one sometimes gains the impression of having reached the most constant and deepest aspect of Diderot's musings.
