International audienceThe objective of this study is to analyse the structural causes of child labour at gold panning sites in Burkina Faso. To achieve this, documentary research, supported by qualitative field collections, was carried out. The results show the major transformations in the surrounding village community, through its adaptation and resilience in the face of the new situation that is gold panning. The relative importance of the financial gains from gold panning is such that some parents tolerate or encourage their offspring to work there.
