Le haut-fourneau de Savignac-Ledrier (24) : un exemple d'archéologie industrielle

The blast furnace at Savignac-Lecrier (24) : an instance of industrial archeology. With its blast furnace fuelled by charcoal, the last one to be so, the Savignac-Ledrier smelting works appears as an historic relic. The site constitutes a conservatory of buildings and machinery classified H.M. : now restored, a project for its valorization is being contemplated. Archeological intervention in the form of excavations, plottings and studies in technical functioning, illuminates the history of the site and provides orientation for a cultural project. An instance of team work which closely associates the study of archives to on-the-spot investigations.Avec le dernier haut-fourneau de France à fonctionner au charbon de bois, la forge de Savignac-Ledrier fait figure de relique historique. Le site constitue un conservatoire de bâtiments et machines classé M. H., restauré et objet d'un projet de valorisation. Les interventions archéologiques, sous forme de fouilles, de relevés et d'études de fonctionnement technique, éclairent l'histoire de ce site et orientent le projet culturel.
