After the coexistence of Romanian and Russian, which lasted until the subsequent prohibition of Romanian on the territory of Bessarabia occupied by the Russian Empire from 1812 to 1918, a period of substantial progress began with the Great Union and the creation of Greater Romania in December 1918.
