Les transports urbains à Toulouse

Present and future problems of the urban transportation net in Toulouse. The transportation system was rendered obsolete by its own internal defects and by the increase of the general traffic as well ; and the bus company remains in the red after its reorganisation. The relations between the urban and the regional traffics are not easier than the relations between the inner core of the city and the suburban outskirts of the agglomeration ; it is hoped that some of these difficulties will be solved by the development of more underground car parks and new by-passes, bridges and motorways. But some points of this sometimes unplanned policy are strongly opposed by various lobbies representing the inhabitants of different parts of the town. It is suggested that planning an urban transportation net cannot be supported by technical devices only : it should fit a social and economical plan rather than follow the main tendencies of the speculative urban extension.Les transports et la circulation à Toulouse connaissent une triple crise : difficultés et déficit des transports en commun qui ont conduit à restructurer la compagnie de transport ; retard des grandes infrastructures routières de dégagement ; contestation par les « mouvements urbains » actuels du tracé de ces « rocades » tardives et revendication en faveur des transports en commun. Mais les choix faits sur les plans, — accès prioritaires au centre par des « pénétrantes », voies sur berges, parkings centraux — , vont dans le sens du développement de la circulation automobile en attendant la construction d'un transport en site propre qui demeure à l'étude.Marty Marthe, Neuman Jean-Pierre.
