Learning from examples: interactions between learners’ activities, format of the example and cognitive processes In many disciplines, providing worked examples to study and then problems to solve is mostly used to improve learning. This article is a non exhaustive synthesis of researches conducted during the last twenty years about learning by studying examples. We present here experimental results about links between cognitive activities developed from examples, nature of material and learning progress. Theses researches show that a number of choices about cognitive activities and examples format have a significant influence on learning.
