Silvered clay vessels, whose technique and form are directly inspired by metal models, are attributed in Etruria to a production called « Volsinian », about whose date and provenance various contradictory hypotheses have been formulated. The technique seems to have appeared towards the end of the fourth century in Faliscan workshops. However, the distribution map of the more complex forms, with relief and applique decoration, shows that Bolsena must have become the principal production center towards the second half of the third century B.C.
