We are told by tradition about the important number of vases made of precious metal wich were used in etruscan banquets. But very few of this material have been found in excavations. This paper is a systematic study based on still existent or already destroyed etruscan tomb paintings. Painted representations of metallic vases are rather numerous : we picked up 1 1 6, but it is obvious that we missed a lot. Anyway, metallic vases seems to be five to six time more numerous than ceramic ones. What is the real value of these representations ? Are these paintings images of reality or just a « prestige » display ? Are these vases made of solid silver or gold or is-it meerely silvered or golded bronze ?
