Livy and the Apollinarian politics of Augustus. Despite his seeming impartiality, which Cremutius Cordus acknowledges, Livy is nonetheless compelled to insert a coherent treatise into his work that seeks to bolster the Apollinarian policy of the Princeps. Many narrative devices (analogies, parallelisms, narrative dramatisation, anachronisms) show how eager the author is to give his own “ Livian” Apollo the same qualities as those of the Principate’s tutelary god : his ability to heal the city, to bring victory and culture to it, and to guide Rome by prophecy over the course of its history.Malgré son apparente impartialité, proclamée par Crémutius Cordus, Tite-Live est parvenu à inscrire un véritable discours cohérent au coeur de son ouvrage...
